Renewal Requirements (Click to view)

The scholarship can be renewed each year as long as the student continues to meet the academic and school requirements. Recipients must maintain good academic performance, remain enrolled full-time, and continue to demonstrate financial need.

This will be reviewed from time to time using progress reports from the academic department.

If these conditions are not met, the scholarship may be reduced or cancelled.

About This Scholarship

The UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship is a major financial support program created by University College London to help talented international students who cannot fully afford the cost of studying in the UK. The goal of this scholarship is simple: to make sure that students with strong academic ability are not held back because of money.

UCL is one of the top universities in the world and attracts students from many countries. Through this scholarship, the university gives students from low-income families the chance to study in a high-quality academic environment and build a strong future.

For many students, this scholarship is more than financial help. It is an opportunity to focus on their education without constant worry about tuition fees and living costs, while becoming part of a global student community.

Frequently Asked Questions

1 How will University College London determine if I am low income?

UCL generally considers a household to be low income if the total yearly income is £25,000 or less. They may also describe a household as lower income if the yearly income is £42,875 or less (or the equivalent amount in another country’s currency).

However, these figures are only used as a general guide. UCL also looks at each applicant’s full financial situation when making their decision, not just the income number alone

2 Can You Hold More Than One Scholarship?

Yes, you are allowed to apply for more than one scholarship as long as you meet the requirements for each one. If you are lucky enough to receive more than one award, you must let the Student Funding Office know if you get any extra funding after you have accepted a scholarship offer.

In some cases, your scholarship amount may be changed depending on the other funding you receive. For more details, you can always check the scholarship page or contact the Student Funding Office directly.

3 When Will You Receive the Scholarship Payment?

If your application is successful, you will receive your scholarship payment after you have fully enrolled in your course. Payments are usually made at the start of each term.

If your scholarship covers more than one academic year, the payment for the next year will onl

4 Can You Lose the Scholarship?

Yes, there are situations where your scholarship funding can stop. If your scholarship is based on academic performance and your department reports that your progress is not satisfactory, your funding may be cancelled.

You will also lose your funding if you pause your studies or withdraw from your course at UCL, and no further payments will be made.

When you receive your scholarship offer, UCL will send you an Award Agreement that explains all the rules and conditions of the scholarship. It is very important to read this carefully. If you break any of the rules, your funding can stop, and in some cases, you may be asked to return the money. If anything is unclear, you should contact the Student Funding Office for guidance.
